One Bad '40 Ford

I wanted to capture the amazing grill on this 1940 Ford Tudor Sedan so I setup my tripod and camera lens 6" above the ground. I also managed to get a pretty nice view of the dramatic clouds overhead.

to my personal blog. Here I post examples of my photography and writing. I specialize in making unique and highly detailed photographs. Notice I said making and not taking. Yes I take photos but a lot of time and work is involved in pushing and punishing the pixels in my images to achieve the look I like.
Please feel free make comments about any of my words or photos. I enjoy constructive critiques, learning about locations to shoot or photography techniques. Click on the "Share Article" link to share any of my photos via Flickr, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
Want to use one of my posts in your own blog? No problem, but please make sure it links back to the original post here and do the right thing and give me credit. Don't copy my words, crop the images, remove the watermarks or claim my work as your own. This has happened more times than I can count so I've had to report copyright violations to ISP's and regrettably the violators blog is usually taken down.
Can't we all just get along?

This red 1957 Chevy caught my eye almost from the moment Kathy and I arrived at the Elks Santa Ana car show. The cars were parked fairly close together so it was tough to get a full body shot of this beautiful classic car. Maybe next time.
This amazing black 1957 Chevy Bel-Air sits under dramatic skies. Kathy and I attended a small car show in Santa Ana, California and saw several really nice cars. As is typical for car shows, the owners are always cool and happy to let us photograph their cars. It did rain later in the day but we were lucky to stay dry during the shoot. I'll be posting more photos from this show in the next few days.
The newly remodeled and reopened Academy of Science Museum in San Francisco has a very large T-Rex replica that towers over the entrance hall. I took this shot from the third floor.
Opened in 1924, the Eastern Bakery was the first bakery in San Francisco's China Town. Located at 720 Grant Street and known best for their Moon cakes which feature a light melon filling or rich lotus seed paste, the Eastern Bakery is a San Francisco landmark. Kathy and I decided to walk over to Chinatown early before any of the stores opened and the crowds gathered. Chinese new year had just started the day before and the foggy streets were covered with red paper from exploded firecrackers.
Kathy and I woke up really early on our last day in San Francisco. I looked outside of our hotel window and could see the fog rolling down the hill and heading for China Town. I told her I was just going to throw on some clothes and walk over and take some shots. She got up immediately and we both headed out. It was so strange to walk around the silent China Town streets. This area was just packed with people and traffic the day before.
Who needs to pay for a bay view room? Kathy shoots a night HDR sequence of San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood. The view from the 20th floor was spectacular!
Kathy and I were staying at the Hilton Financial District right on the edge of San Francisco's China Town. We had been out shooting and decided to head back to our room. On the ride up to the 20th floor, the elevator suddenly slammed to a stop with a loud bang. There were about 5 other people in the elevator but we were the only ones that decided it was time to exit. Kathy got the door open on 19 and out we went. Since we were on the wrong floor we headed for the fire exit. We opened the door and this is the scene we saw. Needless to say we setup our tripods and started shooting.
Lunch at Johnny Rockets in Pasadena. I always like to take HDR's of reflective objects. I did kind of freak out the counter staff. They didn't know what to make of my big camera and gorilla pod.
Slammed 1957 Chevy Nomad Station Wagon - This was the 2nd year in a row that I have had the good fortune of seeing this amazing car at the Uptown Whittier Car Show. I have yet to meet the owner but I think I'll leave a few photos with the car this year. The paint on this car is not be believed.
